Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important political figure stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
